African trio star as Liverpool make superb start

The Grand game selection continues to grow as the Spanish Primera Liga and Italian Serie A add to the numbers after their extended summer breaks come to an end.

While Girona and Betis hosted the first games of Europe’s finest soccer league, defending Champions FC Barcelona begin their title defense on Saturday, with a few changes to light up their new campaign.

After getting in Arturo Vidal, Malcom, Clement Lenglet and Arthur Melo, Barca look like they are headed for another run at arch rivals, Real Madrid. They host Deportivo Alaves and this should be an easy win on Saturday.

While Barca starts on an easy end, last season’s runners-up, Atletico Madrid will have to prove their title winning credentials as early as their first game when they play away to Valencia on Monday. After defeating Real Madrid in UEFA’s Season opener, are they ready to break the Barcelona’s hegemony in Spain?

Los Blancos are looking more broken than they have ever in their last six seasons and it remains to be seen if Julen Lopetegui will last longer than he did as a la Roja manager.

After the Galactico expenditure being demystified by Zinedine Zidane, can Real Madrid maintain their spending cap on new signings as they have done in recent times? They host Getafe on Sunday in their opener and that should be their first test for a clearer picture of how their first season without Ronaldo in almost 10-years will be.

Lionel Messi will have another year at FC Barcelona as he looks for more players to challenge for Spain’s top player’s gong. Spain has dominated the accolade for more than 10-years now.
