Speaker Rebecca Kadaga today suspended the House for one hour, seeking explanation from government as to why some opposition MPs are still under detention following the chaotic events in Arua Municipality on Monday.

The matter was raised by Betty Aol, the Leader of Opposition, who questioned the brutal way in which the legislators had been handled. She asked government to give an explanation.

In response, Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda said he did not have a comprehensive answer forcing an angry Kadaga to adjourn the House.

Kadaga said: "We need to know why are they being held?"

Rugunda apologised and said he is going to look for the answers. The House was scheduled to resume at 5.00PM.

MPs Robert Kyagulanyi, Francis Butebi Zzake, Gerald Karuhanga and Paul Mwiru were arrested on Monday after allegations that they led the people who pelted President Museveni's convoy with stones.

Today, shocking photos of a bed-ridden Zzake were posted on social media today, attracting outrage from sections of the public.
