Place-it: Chelsea to upset City in community shield; Goals Galore in PSG, Monaco fixture

From the International Champions Cup into the Super Cups this weekend with the France Cup (Trophee des Champions) and Community Shield ready to kick-off the new Football League seasons; - here’s Place It tipping you into this weekend.

France Cup (Trophee des Champions) – PSG v Monaco

PSG have steadily moved from humiliation to a more resolute side in the ICC defeating Atletico Madrid in their last engagement in the annual Clubs Competition. But, that’s for the younger side that’s been taking part in the preseason Tournament.

As it stands, The Ligue 1 Champions are very easy to break down at the back especially after trying out a 3-man defense that has so far shipped in as many as 10-goals in 3-matches; - against Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

But this should not get your hopes high, as Monaco on the other side have been worse defensively in their pre-season games shipping in more goals in just 4 of their last friendlies.

PSG lead the current head to head stats dominating the last 8-meetings including a demolishing 7-1 victory in their previous league clash.

Monaco have far fewer absences than PSG, but the losses of Thomas Lemar and Fabinho are far bigger than the fact that PSG lack a striker other than young Timothy Weah and with this, goals may be forced from elsewhere in the side.

PSG have won this competition 5-times in a row, dating to the first time it was played in China, in 2014.

Verdict: 3 or more goals were seen in all of last 6 head to head matches. Trust both teams to score on one side and concede on the other. Go for a goal galore, Over 2.5

I see a huge sign of Monaco at least bringing their disastrous feat against PSG recently to an end in this Super Cup final.

Community Shield – Chelsea v Manchester City

Dating back to the previous season, Manchester City would be outright favorites heading into this clash but the Citizens may be far away from an easy run.

Pep Guardiola may be forced to field a very inexperienced team due to players returning late from the World Cup. But, at least most have been grading well in the training sessions, with exception to Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne, who remain unavailable.

While, new coach Maurizio Sarri may have the luxury of fielding a very strong starting side, they have failed to win any of their last 4-Community Shield matches and that may work to their disadvantage on Sunday at Wembley.

City's youngsters may have played well in their pre-season tour, including that win against Bayern but may not be well prepared to take on Chelsea with the intensity Guadiola’s side had last season to start with a positive result.

They should turn in a competitive performance, but it would be a surprise if Chelsea didn't come out on top because of they have at their disposal.

Verdict: At least both teams will score but trust Chelsea to break that Community Shield jinx for 3-1.
