NRM takes Sheema, Kotido, Ibanda and Nebbi Municipalities

The NRM won four out of the six municipal parliamentary seats according to the results declared by the Electoral Commission from different municipalities last night.

NRM lost in Bugiri and Apac municipalities to the opposition but its candidates swept Kotido, Sheema, Ibanda and Nebbi municipalities.

In Sheema, NRM's Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye polled 13,590 to defeat FDC's Virginia Mugyenyi marginally. Mugyenyi polled 12 345 votes.

Tumwesigye is the incumbent Sheema North MP and his victory now means there shall be a by-election in Sheema North.

In Kotido, Lokii Peter Abrahams (NRM) won with 5830 votes as FDC's Oryono Okot walked away with only 137 votes. Ismail Muhammad Lomwar (NRM) took the mayoral slot with 6243 votes against FDC's 156.

In Ibanda,  NRM's Rwaburindore Tarsis took the Parliamentary seat with 13,331 votes.

FDC's Byaruhanga Alex managed 590 votes. Apollo Kibeitherere (NRM) is the municipal mayor after collecting 22,803 against FDC's 4, 224.

In Nebbi, NRM took both seats there. Hashim Sulaiman (4,283) is the MP elect and Ngiriker Geoffrey (3,897) is the pioneer municipal mayor here.
