Mubi says the operation was conducted following credible intelligence that there were plans to burn trailers in Naluwere.

Speaking to the Nile Post from Bugiri Central Police Station Mubi said that petrol was discovered with some of the suspects detained. Police believe the petrol was to be used to burn trailers parked in the vicinity.

Mubi says that in addition to petrol, the suspects were found with machetes (pangas) to be used in intimidating voters ahead of the July 27th polls

Eye witness accounts however reveal a team of military personnel, plain clothed operatives and police raided Planet Hotel where MP Kyagulanyi and his team where based and ordered the hotel management to surrender a number of people including Kyagulanyi.

The agencies however failed to find Kyagulanyi, his brothers Eddie Yawe and chairman Fred Nyanzi.
