Three months after the hearing of the age-limit case was concluded, the Constitutional Court has announced that the judgment on the petition over the removal of age limit is ready and will be delivered on Thursday, July 26th.

The July 13th notice signed by the registrar of the Court of Appeal says that the judgment will be delivered at the Mbale High Court at 9:30 am.

The petition arose in December 2017 when Parliament amended the constitution to remove the provision that put 75 years as the age above which a person cannot contest for Presidency.

The MPs had in the same amendment extended their term of office from the constitutionally provided for five years to seven years.

The act angered many Ugandans who went to court for redress.

Five groups of people namely; lawyer Male Mabirizi, Uganda Law society, Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga, Prosper Businge and Abaine Jonathan Buregyeya petitioned the court and their petitions were consolidated and heard as one.
