UIA boss, Jolly Kaguhangire, suspended over alleged corruption
The board of directors of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) has suspended the executive director, Jolly Kaguhangire, over allegations of corruption and mismanagement of the authority.

She was suspended for three months, according to a letter dated June 26 and signed by Emely Kugonza, the UIA board chairman.
Basil Ajer, a director in charge of SMEs will act as executive director in this period.
She has been accused of abuse of office, tribalism, insubordination and a litany of other charges.
Letter suspending Kaguhangire
They accused her of fanning tribalism at the body, acting unilaterally and using her powers to misadvise the board in regard to the ongoing restructuring process that started in February.
“In an attempt to discredit UIA staff and management, the ED [executive director] embarked on a smear campaign through online platforms. Through her PA [personal assistant] she started leaking false information about UIA. She used this method to manipulate the board into agreeing with her that a restructuring was very necessary.
“It is a textbook technique in change management that for stakeholders to recognise the need for change, the change champion creates a sense of urgency by painting a worse picture than reality,” one of the petition read in part.
Attempts to talk to her were futile as she did not return our calls.
