Man Arrested Over Fake IGP Ochola Facebook Account, Was Giving Orders to Police Officers

Police in Namutumba have arrested Geoffrey Kalele for allegedly operating a fake Facebook account in the names of the Inspector General Police John Martins Okoth-Ochola.

According to the CID spokesperson Vincent Ssekate,  Kalele opened up a the fake  account in the names of the IGP between March  and June and has been using it to defraud the public.

"He has been using the account to give orders to police officers and some of the unsuspecting officers would follow them,"Ssekate said.

According to police, by the time of his arrest, Kalele had collected shs700,000 from the public which he confessed to have used to pay school fees for his children.

The man according to Ssekate will be slapped with fraud and impersonation charges.

A number of people have in the past been defrauded using social media, especially Facebook.

A few months ago, a former journalist was charged with defrauding a number of people using a fake Facebook account in the names of the Irene Muloni,the Minister for Energy.
