NBS@10 celebrations kickoff in style

Celebrations to mark Next Broadcasting Services’ ten years in existence kicked off in style on Friday.

Speaking at the function, Next Media CEO, Kin Kariisa said that the television has grown from a small station to the most feared and market leader in doing live events and current affairs.

“Many companies don’t live to celebrate their second or third anniversary .We are now celebrating our 10th anniversary,”Kariisa said.

“We shall never turn back and we shall never be small again.”

He led the company employees through the ten year journey that started on June 16, 2008 when NBS was registered and got its licence and by then had one transmitter to becoming a force to reckon with in the broadcast industry in the country.

Kariisa vowed that the next ten years will be another period of continued growth and leadership in the media industry.

The Next Media Services’ Chief Strategy Officer, Joseph Kigozi said the ten years are meant to celebrate the dedicated employees of the company who have seen it through thick and thin throughout the years.

“Today is the day to understand the journey of a bold decade we have moved,”Kigozi said.

“In the past years, it was difficult to recognize NBS exists but it has turned out to be a household name in the media industry.”

Next Media Staff were in a joyous mood

Salmah Namwanje, one of the pioneer NBS reporters narrated her journey as a trainee to her current position as a news anchor and producer.

“I joined in August 2009 as an intern student before I was later taken on as a reporter,”Namwanje said.

“We used to go to the field without cameras and relied on footage from other media houses for assistance.However, there were those who never wanted to associate with us for being a small brand but we have finally turned into a big brand that everyone is chasing for.”

She applauded the Kamwokya based television management for putting trust in her and retained her as an employee.

Six months of celebration

According to the Chief Strategy Officer, the NBS@10 celebrations will continue for six months where the company will give back to the communities and its viewers.

Rama Mbago, the Chief Operations Officer of Next Media could not hide his joy. He has walked the entire NBS journey.

“The celebrations will not stop in Kampala but all parts of the country to ensure the public celebrates with us,”Kigozi said.

The celebrations will include giving out prizes to members of the public among which will include doing make over to ten houses for lucky communities around the country.
