Pastor’s wife arrested for faking own kidnap

Police in Kampala have arrested, Mariam Kusubira, a wife to Pastor Shadrack Kusubira of Noah’s Ark church in Namasuba for faking her own kidnap.

Kusubira was reportedly kidnapped on June 6 on her way to Gayaza to buy land valued at shs20 million before the alleged kidnappers demanded for a Shs 50 million ransom to have her released.

However, according to police, the pastor’s wife was found hiding at her daughter’s house in Kikajjo.

“She was coming from Masaka and had taken refugee at the daughter’s house in Kikajjo, Makindye division,” Kampala Metropolitan Area police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire told the Nile Post.

According to the police mouthpiece, they are set to slap charges related to self- kidnap and elopement.

The number of people kidnapping themselves has since the kidnap and subsequent murder of Susan Magara, a cashier at Bwendero dairy farm in Hoima on February 7 increased.

Last week, police arrested one Margret Namukose for allegedly claiming she had been kidnapped, raped and dumped in a forest only for details to emerge later, she was “enjoying life” with a new lover at Serena hotel in Kampala.

It is alleged that on June 7 , Namusoke told her husband that she was scheduled to attend a school meeting at Kasangati but she reportedly went missing in the evening and her phone went off.

The phone would later turn back on and she called her husband to tell him she had been kidnapped, raped and dumped in a certain forest.

On receiving the call, Namukose’s husband ran to Kyebando police post to report the matter.

Police started tracing her phone but all leads located her in Kampala central. A day later, Namukose resurfaced and was dragged to Police by her husband.

On interrogation, she insisted she had been kidnapped but her tactics ensured she freed herself and sprinted from the scene.

She said that her first thought was to run to the clinic, where she sought medical checkup and treatment.

Police then took her to the clinic she had claimed but there was no record of her visit.

On further interrogation, she confessed there was never a kidnap or rape but rather a fruitful and peaceful weekend spent away with a new lover at Serena Hotel.
