One dies, seven injured as fire guts primary school in Kabale

One child has been reported dead and seven others injured in a fire that gutted Universal Nursery and Primary Boarding in Kekubo Central Division, Kabale District.

According to witnesses, Arinda Aldrine of primary seven who was one of the pupils in the dormitory suffocated to death. It is reported that Arinda was asleep by the time the fire broke out. Another seven pupils were injured including their matron.

The fire is said to have started at around 7:00pm from a garage extension on the girls dormitory due an electric short circuit but it was battled by the police before it could do more damage.
