Climate Change activists have pinned government on the increasing deaths of people who stay in areas prone to landslides.
These activists under the African Climate Reality Project (ACRP) said government’s role is to relocate the people before disaster strikes but it had not done so.
Addressing journalists in Kampala, the coordinator ACRP, Timothy Mugerwa, the government considers the “top to bottom” way of advocacy for change which has failed many policies from being effected.
The group also announced that local musician, Ronald Mayinja is going to be their ambassador for climate change, leading the charge to sensitise people about dangers of mudslides.
Mayinja said he is going to compose songs and engage Ugandans personally for environmental preservation and climate change.
These activists said they are going to move house to house sensitising people about the dangers of encroaching on the environment and also advocating for them to shift from mudslide prone areas.
