Ssematiko was on May 25, 2018 surrounded by five men and forcefully squeezed in a van in Kyengera, a Kampala suburb.
Sematiko’s wife, Rehema Nakawooya narrated to police that on the fateful day, they heard a knock on the door, on opening, five men dashed into the house and seized her husband before driving away to an unknown location.
However, Police located Henry Sematiko in Wobulenzi lying on the ground, tied and unconscious five days later.
“The victim has been rushed to Mulago Referral Hospital for further medication. Its rumoured that the motive of the abductors would be the ongoing wrangles surrounding the current management of Kasubi market where the victim is an active member,” a statement from Kampala Metropolitan Police reads.
