Uganda Cranes skipper and shot stopper Denis Onyango on Tuesday missed out on goalkeeper of the season gong after losing to South African counterpart Itumeleng Khune.
Kaizer Chiefs’ Khune, 30 , who completed the season with 16 clean sheets out of the 27 Premier Soccer League beat Mamelodi Sundowns’ Onyango who had 13 clean sheets to the gong .
Onyango last won the award at the end of the 2015/2016 season.
Mamelodi eats big
Onyango’s Mamelodi that won the league ate big with two of their own, including Percy Tau and Pitso Mosmane being crowned player and coach of the season respectively.
Mosmane beat former Cranes and Orlando Pirates tactician Milutin Micho Sredjovic to the coach of the season gong.
The Brazilians won the ABSA Premiership for the eighth time and will South Africa in the CAF champion’s league for the fifth time in a row.
