Ex-IGP Erinayo Oryema's family seeks justice over land

The family of the first IGP, Erinayp Oryema is seeking to regain over 6000 Hectares of land lost to allegedly a top government official.
This comes years after President Museveni ordered that the land be returned to the family, an order that appears to have been ignored.
Among whom is Gen Otema Alwany, who claims ownership of the contested land .
But records from Nwoya land board however, reveal the late Oryema as the rightful owner.
"He owns the land," said Zeru Abukha the chairman of Nwoya land board.
The family has been battling squatters since 2014 at the invite of Gertrude Oryema, a daughter to the deceased
Alex Onen, a brother to the deceased who after death of Oryema kept the title for over a year, blames the current land impasse on Getrude.
The family claims Getrude offered 2,000 hectares of land to Gen Otema who off camera acknowledged the claim and is willing to return it, if the family meet his asking price of Shs 440 million.
Getrude Oryema, speaking on phone did not dismiss the relationship with Gen Otema.
Getrude had the power of administration of Oryema’s property until 2016 .
With all the avenues tested, the family now seeks the highest office for intervention
