I am alive because of herbal medicine- Museveni

President Museveni has vouched for herbal medicine as a rare science capable of overcoming the problems associated with nature, specifically disease.

Museveni said the trees used in herbal medicine were made by God and encouraged those with the ability to utilise herbal means to use them in helping others.

Museveni made the statements during the passing out of 1,023 graduates from different districts trained in herbal medicine practice by the Uganda North American Youth Development Association in Lubaga-Mutundwe, Kampala.

“When I was three months old, I was told that I got sick and was taken to some lady. She had to chew herbal medicine and directly administer it into my mouth. I am alive because of her. Later, when I had grown, I visited and thanked her on advice of my mother,” Museveni said.

“Substances like gun powder and medicine like quinine and penicillin were made as a result of scientists using the laws of nature, which Africans must also emulate,” he added.

Museveni called upon Ugandans to have have self-confidence, understand the laws of nature and utilise them to help others. “Science is not witchcraft; the trees used in herbal medicine were made by God. Our job is to establish dominion over nature as the first chapter of Genesis says.”

The president made a contribution of Shs260m on behalf of government towards the herbal training initiative.
