Vipers’ title chances dwindle as SC Villa maintains grip

Kitende based Vipers SC chances of winning this year’s Uganda Premier League reduced when they were held to a nil all draw by BUL FC at Kakindu stadium in Jinja.

Through Dan Sserunkuuma and Milton Kariisa, the visitors fought tooth and nail to bag all the three points from Jinja but this was not possible as the hosts refuse to give in until the game ended goalless.

In Masaka, the record champions SC Villa continued to maintain their grip onto the summit of the league when they beat Police by a goal to nil at the Masaka Recreation Grounds in another encounter in the Uganda Premier League.

Vipers players walk of the pitch dejected.

Following a goalless first half, talisman Martin Kiiza separated the two teams only five minutes after recess when he put the ball at the back of the net through a strike that went past Davis Mutebi to bring his tally to nine in this season’s Uganda Premier League.

At the Muteesa II stadium in Wankulukuku, home side Express FC was separated from Mbarara City through a 76th minute David Ndihabwe goal to enable the Red Eagles take the day and also reduce on their chances of relegation.

SC Villa are still at the top of the Uganda Premier League on 49 points after 23 games whereas defending champions, KCCA FC, who play Maroons on Thursday are second, six points below the table leaders.

Vipers are third whereas in the relegation zone is Express, Proline FC and Masavu in the 14th, 15th and 16th places respectively.
