Power distributor Umeme have clarified on the incident in which an electric pole collapsed on three cars parked along Wilson Road, downtown Kampala yesterday.
According to Umeme, a truck driving along Wilson Road came into contact with wires and dragged down a concrete pole.
“No casualties, our technical teams were quick on ground and the street lighting pole in question was completely disconnected from the network to ensure safety of persons,” a statement from Umeme reads.

A source in Umeme also refutes reports that the company did little to compensate Ms Rose Muhinza who escaped death when a transformer collapsed on her car along Dewinton Road in April last year.
Media had reported that Umeme only delivered flowers to Muhinza while she lay injured in hospital.
“It is not true, we transferred her to Aga Khan hospital for further treatment and review, bought her a new car and also forwarded her Shs12m in cash,” the source that prefers anonymity told Nile Post.
“The woman (Muhinza) was also enrolled on a complete insurance policy courtesy of Umeme,” the source adds.
