Fred Ruhindi appointed to Uganda Human Rights Commission

President Museveni has appointed Fred Ruhindi, the former Attorney General, as a commissioner to the Uganda Human Rights Commission.

According to a communication by the office of the clerk to parliament, Ruhindi together with Busingye Rusoke are some of the names sent to the Parliamentary Appointments Committee for vetting for the position of commissioners in the government’s human rights body.

Ruhindi was formerly the Member of Parliament for Nakawa and also served as Attorney General and State Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

He has until the appointment been a commissioner on the commission of inquiry into land matters chaired by Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire.

Meanwhile, Museveni has also appointed his sister Dr.Violet Kajubiri as the Deputy Chairperson of the Education Service Commission together with Johnson Malinga as a member on the commission.

In the same manner, the head of state has also sent names of Justice Ralpha Ochan as chairperson of the Public Service Commission, Hilda Musubira (Deputy chairperson), Winnie Musoke Kaboggoza and Hajjati Jamilah Kamulegeya as members on the commission.

They are expected to be vetted on April 12 by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.
