UNICAF partners with Next Media to equip staff with Master's degrees, Doctorates

Next Media and UNICAF today signed a ground breaking agreement that will lead to the training of Next Media staff in a number of fields.

Next Media is the umbrella group for NBS TV, Nile Post, Salam TV, Sanyuka TV and a host of other companies.

UNICAF is a leading global provider of online education. Its key partner is the University of South Wales in the United Kingdom.

At a press briefing to announce the agreement, Joe Kigozi, Next Media's Chief of Strategy hailed the move and said it will go a long way in consolidating the company as the leading multi-media firm in Uganda.

"It is a milestone partnership. We want to train our staff to give them the right tools to deliver excellent services," Kigozi said.

He said training is part of Next Media's strategy to improve the quality of the human resource.

Pearl Nimusiima, the Marketing Manager of UNICAF said Next Media employees will now be in position to advance careers without interrupting their work schedules.

"You will interact with a wide range of professionals allover the world, from your computer. We shall avail you an extensive online library," she said.

According to the agreement UNICAF will meet 85% of the costs of training Next Media employees while the multi-media firm shall cover 15%.

The agreement means that employees of Next Media can enrol for master's and doctorate degrees at University of South Wales or UNICAF University.

The degree programmes include: Master of Business Administration (MBA), MBA (Management); MBA (Finance); MSc in Psychology; Msc Organisational Psychology; MSc (Web Design and Development); Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Public Administration and MA (Education) among others.
