Ministry revokes Kibuule's land titles

The Ministry of Lands has revoked land titles fraudulently acquired by state minister for Water, Ronald Kibuule

This comes after claims that the 85-acre piece of land that was illegally purchased in Buikwe District belongs to the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

At exactly 10 am, the public hearing over the controversial 85-acre piece of land that has caused mayhem in Buikwe district was on.

The man in the center of the storm and junior minister for Water Ronald Kibuule was absent but his lawyers were here to present his side of the story.

Unfortunately for him, his lawyers did not have the title of the land in question and this weakened their argument.

It is then that Buganda land board demanded for the cancellation of the titles because the facts raised by the complainant had errors.

“Whereas there are glaring illegalities and very unholy fraud, we decided to restrict ourselves to the errors apparent on the record,” said Deo Kalikumutima, the external council, Buganda Land Board.

1pm was the time both sides were eagerly waiting for. A ruling was passed by the senior registrar of titles Joseph Kibande cancelling the title of the land in Golomolo, Buikwe district owned by the state minister for water, Ronald Kibuule

“We find that all the sub divisions arose from the property in issue were erroneously done, all persons in possession of the cancelled certificates of title are hereby directed to present those titles to the office of land registration,” Kibande declared.

The decision came as a blow to Kibuule’s lawyers, to the excitement of Buganda Land board members and the residents who for all this time had spent sleepless nights as they awaited eviction of the minister.

“We have listened to the decision, unfortunately the decision has been verbal, it is not expected that in the ordinary course of doing business and most especially official work that a person will make you sit and wait for a decision only to be pronounced orally. We are going to appeal,” Ambrose Tebyasa, Kibuule’s lawyer lamented.

“We thank God that his Majesty pleased to instruct us to defend the rights of these people and most importantly, the tittles that were created in error canceled which has been done today,” Kalikumutima said.
