Facebook rolls out new features for Valentine’s Day

Technology

This Valentines, Facebook is changing how you are connected on its Messenger chat app. That’s just how far one of the ‘Internet’s Big five’ is raring to nose around your Social activities online.

Starting this February 14 onwards, Facebook will be updating some specific features, rolling out with more to love. The moment a couple declares they’re in a relationship, Facebook Messenger will open with a shower of hearts, then invite the couple to customize text color, emoji, and nickname.

Your significant other will sit atop your contact list, alongside your most frequently contacted friends or family. The heart eyes emoji will be set as your custom emoji.

The timing of the roll-out for this feature should not be mistaken for a Valentine’s Day promotion as it is what each couple that declares their relationship (on Facebook) will be seeing going forward, a company representative confirmed to Nile Tech in an email.

The change in Facebook Messenger will occur each time a couple is declared “In a Relationship,” “Engaged,” “Married,” “In a Civil Union,” “In a Domestic Partnership,” or “In an Open Relationship.”

The change in how couples connect on Facebook Messenger comes one month after Messenger chief David Marcus promised to “massively simplify” the chat app’s user experience.

One more thing, whoever you’re in a relationship with will now appear at the top of Messenger’s Active tab.
