Former Ndorwa legislator dies

Zakayo Tumukunde, the former Member of Parliament for Ndorwa County in Kabale district is dead.

Tumukunde died yesterday at his home in Nyakambu cell, Kirigime ward, southern division, Kabale municipality after a battle with cancer. The deceased served as a member of parliament between 1980-1985

During, President Yoweri Museveni's regime, Ndorwa County, was later divided into three counties that include; Kabale municipality, Ndorwa east and Ndorwa West.

Before joining politics, Tumukunde served as the head teacher of Kabale Secondary School.   In 2011 the deceased lost to Dr Pius Ruhemurana on the seat of Kabale Municipality Mayor.

Paul Karekyera, the Kabale district UPC Chairman described the death of Tumukunde as a big loss to the country saying that he was a man full of wisdom.

Wilkins Arineitwe, another UPC die hard in Kabale municipality described the late Tumukunde as a man who was exemplary and a pillar in development Arineitwe also says that the deceased was s role model leader who was not corrupt.
