SFC cleans Entebbe town to mark Tarehe Sita

Special Forces Command (SFC) soldiers were on Sunday involved in a series of activities as part of the celebrations to mark Tarehe Sita day.

The elite force, which is part of the UPDF cleaned areas including Kitoro market, Grade B hospital, Entebbe town and Abayita Ababiri market.

Speaking at the function to launch the Tarehe Sita week in her area, Entebbe Deputy RDC Rose Kirabira hailed UPDF's role in promoting regional integration through security and peace but warned them on indiscipline.

"Be exemplary, disciplined and also shun sectariarism," Kirabira told the soldiers.

She urged them to always embrace government programmes such as Operation Wealth Creation(OWC) aimed at lifting Ugandans from poverty.

SFC's Col. Peter Chadia hailed the army for its patriotic contribution to the country and region at large.

The army has also set up a two- day medical camp at Comprehensive SS Lugonjo and Nkumba University sports ground to provide free check ups, treatment, antenatal care dental check ups and HIV /AIDS testing.

Tarehe Sita is celebrated annually to remember the beginning of the five year war that started with an attack at Kabamba barracks in 1981 and ushered in the NRA government in 1986.

It is celebrated every February 6 and this year's activities will held in Butaleja under the theme: "Reaffirming the contribution of Armed Forces towards Regional Integration for our Strategic Security, Development and Prosperity."
