Seven charged with burning boda boda 2010 offices

Seven riders from rival groups have been charged with burning and ransacking the offices of boda boda 2010 .

Following the arrest of boda boda 2010's chairman Abdallah Kitatta together with his members on Saturday and Sunday by the army, riders stormed their offices ransacking and burning them down on Monday.

On Wednesday afternoon, Mwanga II grade one Magistrate Allan Nyakaana read charges of tress pass and destroying property at the offices of boda boda 2010 at Wakaliga.

The group was charged of malicious damage, contrary to section 335 of the Penal Code Act  and criminal tress pass contrary to section 302 of the Penal Code Act.

The suspects include; Farouk Muyomba , Godfrey Mubiru , Yiga John Bosco, Patrick Wamala , Hamza Kiggundu , Saul Katongole and Ssebufu John Bosco.

The state prosecutor Kulthum Mariam however told court that investigations are still ongoing and asked for more time.

The magistrate remanded them to January 31.

Police on Monday swung into action arresting over 20 riders for torching and ransacking offices of boda boda 2010 in various places around the city including Wakaliga, Bukesa and Makindye.

Boda boda 2010' Kitatta and some of his members had been arrested over alleged involvement in the murder of Case hospital accountant Francis Ekalungar who went missing early this month before his body was discovered in Kajjansi burnt.
