Kadaga: Many civil servants, politicians have fake academic papers

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has asked government to audit of all academic credentials of civil servants and politicians in the country.

Officiating at the ecumenical thanksgiving prayer for Parliament, Kadaga said that’s it’s unfortunate that a number of civil servants including presidential appointees have fake academic papers.

At the  same function, religious leaders from different denominations prayed to God to forgive the MPs for the disunity and chaos that was exhibited in the August House last year

Since the tabling of the controversial Constitutional amendment bill 2017 by Igara West legislator Raphael Magyezi in September 2017, parliament has become a stage for trading blows and insults.

This is what partly compelled Parliament to have a special joint prayer to seek for forgiveness and reconciliation.

Dr. Lawrence Ssemusu who led the prayers asked god to intervene in the works of the legislative arm by ensuring unity amongst the MPs.

Dr Ssemusu also tasked parliament to address the increasing vice of forging academic papers in the country.

It was at this point that Kadaga asked government to carry out an audit of academic credentials for civil servants and politicians.

She said it is unfortunate that even some presidential appointees have presented fake academic credentials before the parliamentary committee on Appointments for confirmation.
