MPs want ISO budget increased

The Presidential Affairs Committee of parliament has demanded that the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) be revised upwards.

Budget challenges were raised Thursday morning as Security Minister, Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde an other official from the office of the president appeared before the committee to present the budget frame work paper for 2018/19.

The committee discovered that Ministry of Finance had underfunded the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) which falls under the President’s office that in the previous financial year.

ISO reportedly received only Shs 19.8b out of the Shs 283.1b that the Ministry of Finance provided.

The MPs on the committee also want the Ministry of Finance to have ISO as an independent vote than being under the office of the president. They also threatened not to sign the report if the allocation to ISO is not increased.
