Talented Allan Kateregga sets KCCA FC alight

When you’re one of the country’s best at anything, reverence and criticism tend to come in equal measures. For example, KCCA FC’s Allan Kateregga’s acclaim and condemnation have come in equal measure.

One of the most loved footballers in the Azam Uganda Premier League, Kateregga is remarkably also one of the most skilled footballers in the country; nicknamed dancing rasta , and the jury argues he is the best football currently plying his trade in Uganda.

And he shared with Nile Post what makes him one of the best local players especially when it comes to his footballing skills.

“I consider my self favoured by God. My footballing skills are just natural born. I cant say that I trained to get them. I had them and I just keep working on them to make them better. My belief and passion for football has made me the best .My passion is extreme when am on the pitch," Kateregga told The Nile Post.

Kateregga is a fan darling at the Star Times Stadium in Lugogo.

The 23 old was unveiled at Lugogo last September. And he is not regretting his decision to cross over from AFC Leopards.

He said: “ KCCA FC isn’t the team I dreamt to play for because I hadn’t planned to play at home but after my stints in Kenya I thank God it has paid off because it has bore some good fruits and I am happy am here."

Kateregga has displayed incredible skills since signing for KCCA FC.

He has since formed a partnership with defensive midfielder Isaac Kirabira.

“I think Isaac Kirabira is technical and above all, tactical. He knows how to cover you and support you and I think he has done it best for me though most of the guys here at KCCA FC are talented and very skilful”, he said.

The youngster has  sethis sights on joining the best clubs on the continent and elsewhere.

"I see my self playing in very competitive leagues. I see my life changing from what it is today to a better one. My life now isn’t bad but I would love it to be better because I want to be the best on the continent," Kateregga said.

Kateregga has already played for some of the best East African clubs including Tusker Fc, AFC Leopards of Kenya before crossing to KCCA FC on loan.

He has found his footing as a regular starter with the national team, the Uganda Cranes.
