KCCA FC hopes to shine in Champions League

Uganda's League Champions, KCCA FC, have vowed to prove a point in the 2018 CAF Champions League.

Mike Hillary Mutebi, the head coach said  that after qualifying for the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup, his target is the knock out stage of the lucrative Champions League tournament.

"We don't want to stay at the same level all the time. There must be a change and the players know what I demand of them," added Mutebi who has guided KCCA FC to two straight League titles.

Early this month the Ugandan Premier League champions were drawn to face Madagascar's CNAPS FC in the preliminary round of the 2018 CAF Champions League.

Mutebi said although teams from Madagascar have not performed so well in CAF tournaments, they will not under-rate any opponent.

"We need to be very focused and disciplined because we have now attained the international exposure after playing over eight games with top teams of South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia and Angola this year," he said.

The coach said they have added some new faces in the squad like striker Muhammad Shaban who will bring more attack to the team.

KCCA FC who reached the group stage of the CAF Confederations Cup this year will travel for the first leg away in Madagascar between February 9-11, while the return leg in Kampala will be played between February 20-22.

In-case KCCA FC qualify from the preliminary stage they will face the winner between Ethiopian giants St. George and Al Salam WAU (South Sudan).
