Stella Nyanzi "Pair of buttocks"case flops again

Makerere University research fellow Dr. stella Nyanzi’s case has been adjourned to 16th January 2017 after the presiding chief magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda was not available at Buganda Road chief magistrates court.

Nyanzi appeared at court by 9 am for the hearing of her case where she is charged with offensive communication after she used her social media platform to insult the person of the president by calling him “A pair of buttocks".

jonathan muwaganya , the resident state attorney agreed with the seating in magistrate that court could not proceed because the chief magistrate was not in court . He also informed court that he couldn’t see any of Nyanzi’s lawyers (Peter walubiri, Isaac Ssemakande, and Aaron Kiiza).

However when asked , Nyanzi told court that her lawyer had just stepped out . The matter was then adjourned to 16 january 2017 by Grade 1 magistrate Samuel Kagoda who was sitting in for the chief magistrate.

BACKGROUND

Nyanzi was dragged to court in April to answer charges of offensive communication and cyber harassment after she took it to social media where she referred to president Museveni as ‘a pair of buttocks’ through her Facebook posts something prosecution found obscene and indecent.

The Facebook post over which Nyanzi was charged read: “That is what buttocks do. They shake, jiggle, shit and fart. Museveni is just another pair of buttocks … Ugandans should be shocked that we allowed these buttocks to continue leading our country.”

Nyanzi, a mother of three, has repeatedly criticised Museveni via her facebook posts.
