Cranes bows out of CECAFA

The record champions Uganda Cranes were  eliminated from this year's edition of the CECAFA senior challenge cup on Friday afternoon by Zanzibar.

Two goals in either either half of the game ensured island country Zanzibar went past Uganda 2-1 to storm finals of this year's CECAFA tournament.

Zanzibar took the lead twenty minutes into play courtesy of Abdulaziz Makame but Cranes equalised six minutes later through KCCA FC striker Derrick Nsibambi to restore parity.

The Island side was however back in the driving seat when Muhammed Issa saw the back of the net in the 57th minute to cause more misery for Uganda who went into the game as defending champions.

Zanzibar will now entertain hosts Kenya in the finals later over the weekend in this year's CECAFA senior challenge cup .
