Bryan White's body guards arrested, gun recovered at his home

Police are holding two of their own in connection to the shooting involving Brian White Kirumira, alias Bryan White. The officers were picked up Thursday morning following the recovery of a police gun from Kirumira's home in Buziga, a Kampala suburb.

The two officers, whose identities have been withheld by Police, are attached to Kabalagala Police Station and have been acting as Bryan White’s bodyguards.

Bryan White is wanted for shooting Victor Bitwire in the shoulders outside his home on Wednesday morning under unclear circumstances. In his statement, White denies shooting Bitwire, saying he only tried to assist a man he found lying in a trench near his home.

"I found him already shot and only took him to hospital as a Good Samaritan. I didn't shoot anyone, "reads Bryan White’s statement.

Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, says they are still monitoring the situation of the victim who is still admitted at International Hospital Kampala-IHK.

"We still have Brian Kirumira ( Bryan White) in our custody and we are waiting for the victim to be able to record a statement on what happened exactly," Owoyesigire said.  Police have since recovered the cartridge from the bullet that hit Bitwire.

The hospital has also handed over the bullet that was found in the body of the victim. Bryan White is being held on tentative charges of attempted murder together with his police guards.

This is not the first time the city socialite has been at the centre of controversy.

A few months ago, Bryan White was spotted riding in a posh convertible vehicle with unidentified men welding AK47 rifles.

Later, photos of him being guarded by policemen in plain clothes holding automatic riffles circulated on social media.
