Uganda Police have cautioned the general public to be vigilant during the upcoming festive holidays in order to avert the anticipated crime rise.
According to the Officer in Charge of Wandegeya Division Police, ASP Abwang Samuel, they expect crime to increase, mostly theft of petty items, phone robbery and burglary.
He called upon members of the public to be vigilant by reporting suspicious people and making sure they leave their items attended to.
‘’We need to go on the ground and sensitise the public about this issue especially as we approach the festive season. People need to be vigilant even when they move out of their houses, they should ensure they have locked every part of the house, those with cars should raise windows and engage central locks always,” he said.
Abwang said that the police have already deployed their officers in major black spot areas to thwart any form of crime.
He made the statements during the re-innovation and general cleaning exercise of station premises on Saturday 9th December 2017 where he was chief guest.
The renovation was done with the help of donations from general public and partners.
‘’We sat as a division and we realized that is need to partner with the public because we wanted to enter the festival season in a different style we got coordinated quickly with Christ embancy church.’’
