In the 13th place semi final game Onyango’s team humbled Russia 17-12 before losing 26-7 to Argentina in the trophy quarter final.
South Africa beat New Zealand 24-12 to lift the main trophy, while England won the bronze after a 28-21 victory over Fiji.
The Uganda Rugby Cranes will now focus on the Cape Town 7s which takes place next weekend as they prepare for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 7s World Cup in USA.
