The commander in chief of the armed forces, president Yoweri Museveni has promoted the deputy airforce commander, Brigadier Sam Kavuma to the rank of Major General.
According to the UPDF spokesperson, Kavuma has also been appointed the Deputy commander land forces in the new changes in the army leadership.
Maj.Gen Kavuma who also serves as the chairman UPDF Wazalendo sacco joined the National Resistance Army in 1981 and has served in a number of command positions in the army including Division Commander,Force Commander African Union Joint Task Force against LRA as well as Contingent Commander of UPDF in Somalia.
He also commanded a Division in Northern Uganda,operated against the LRA in Central African Republic and fought decisive battles against the Alshabab in Somalia.
