KCCA FC aims for clean sheet in Mbarara

KCCA FC’s shot stopper Charles Lukwago (pictured above) has worked his way to becoming the Kasasiro Boys’ first choice goalkeeper this season plausibly due to the dip in form of Mike Mutebi’s perennial favorite Benjamin Ochan.

In his eight starts, Lukwago has managed five clean sheets this season but let in two in his sides last outing, a 2-1 loss to Proline in the Lugogo derby.

When the defending champions travel to Kakyeka stadium today to face Mbarara city, for Lukwago, it will be about rediscovering his form and perhaps record a sixth clean sheet against the 11th placed Mbarara FC.

Lukwago told The Nile Post that he hopes for a positive outing when he faces the western Uganda outfit..

"The team is ready and I am optimistic for a positive result. As an individual I am moderate, but equally the team also is performing well. It feels good when technical team has confidence in you, it builds your confidence and desire to play more games," he said.

Their hosts’ inferior scoring record might boost Lukwago’s confidence for a clean sheet even more.

Mbarara FC has only managed six goals in 12 games, with Soana (5), the only side to shake less nets.

KCCA FC on the other side have scored a league high 25 goals with their forwards finally finding their scoring boots.

Mohammed Shaban has so far netted six goals in four games, while Tito Okello and Derrick Nsibambi each have four goals to their credit.

The 12-time league champions are lying third on the 16-team log while the newly promoted Ankole Lions, as Mbarara FC is known, in the 11th position.
