National volleyball league playoffs get new sponsors

A few days to the kickoff, the national volleyball league playoffs have got a major boost with a fifty million shillings sponsorship deal.

Speaking during the function to unveil the sponsorship deal, Uganda Volleyball Federation president Hadijja Namanda said the deal has come in at the right time and would help greatly to improve the game.

“It could not have come at a better time than now.It shows the confidence that the new partners have in the game and the federation,”Namanda said.

Accordingly, this year’s national volleyball league playoffs series will now be called the Aziz Damani national volleyball playoffs 2017.

“We acknowledge that the game has not been well supported and part of our goal is to see this sport gains the glory it deserves,”Damani said.

The sponsorship will cover balls, jerseys, trophies and medals among others for all teams that will take part in the national volleyball league playoffs.

The national volleyball league playoffs will kick off on Sunday at Lugogo Indoor stadium and Sport-S grounds in Nsambya.

Thirty two teams from the three championship series A,B and C will compete in this year’s playoffs for both men and women.

Serie A teams for men include Sport-S,KAVC-A,Nemo Stars and Uganda Christian University whereas VVC,UCU,Sport-S and Nkumba will vie for this year’s honors in the women’s category.

On the other side, Police,COBAP,JVC and MUST will vie for the trophy in the men’s category in Serie B.

Serie C will have St.Mark, Kampala University,Mulago and Destiny for men’s playoffs.

Speaking about the playodffs, Nemo Stars captain George Aporu said the team goes into their opening game with confidence adding that they are ready for the Uganda Christian University test.

“We respect them for being a good team but we will give them a good run for their money,”Aporu said.

A turmoil  last year  saw the league end in chaos and unfamiliar circumstances where majority of the teams boycotted games.
