UNEB to use PLE results in ranking Schools’ final performance at UCE, UACE

The top suspect alleged to have master minded the leakage of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams is missing.

The suspect, a head teacher at one of the schools in Busesa, Iganga district, is reported to have disappeared last week after a tip off that he was to be arrested.

Sources in Busesa indicate that the suspect before disappearing, connived with the school’s deputy head master and bursar and emptied the school’s bank account.

The trio also made off with six desk top computers belonging to the school.

About Shs20 million was on the account in Baroda Bank, Iganga branch.

While addressing journalists last week, UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo said the exam body had traced the recent leakage of UCE exams to a store in Busesa.

He said that the are supervisor and scout had since confessed to taking a bribe worth Shs 1 million to leak the exams.

According to Odongo, over 26 people from various districts have so far been arrested in relation to the examination leakage.

Of the arrested; five were from Entebbe, five from Rwizi, four from Rwenzori west region, two from Serere, one from Amuria, nine from Kampala and one from Iganga.
