Police have kicked off investigatiONS into circumstances under which a 62 year old retired nurse, Elizabeth was shot dead on Friday evening at Kololo Village, Bumwoni Sub county in Namisindwa district.
According to locals, the incident took place at around 8pm. She was shot in the face by assailants who disappeared into thin air.
Elgon region police spokesperson Mansur Sowed confirmed the incident adding that Kimono breathed her last while being rushed to Magale Health Centre IV .
“We have arrested one person and is in our custody to help in investigations,” Sowed said, identifying the suspect as Benon Wamatabi.
It is alleged that the deceased had a long term land wrangle with her brother Stephen Musamali that had later culminated into accusations and counter accusations of witchcraft.
