The Uganda Human Rights Commission has called for an overhaul in the Police force, arguing the institution's image has been grossly tainted by human rights abuse.

The chairperson of the Commission, Meddie Mulumba made the statements at their head offices in Kampala on Friday.

Meddie Mulumba says government should start screening of police officers to weed out the corrupt and human rights abusers.

The call comes after the arrest of several senior police officers by the Chieftaincy of Military intelligence (CMI) on various charges.
