Besigye aide detained at Jinja road police station

Ronald Muhinda, the chief aide of Dr Kizza Besigye is currently being detained at Jinja Road police station, The Nile Post can reveal.

Muhinda’s whereabouts had been a source of worry for many of his friends, relatives and fellow political activists after the chaotic events in Rukungiri on October 18, where one person was shot dead.

Muhinda, a journalist-turned political activist, is being held in relation to this episode.

During the fracas, Muhinda relayed the events live through his Facebook page. He was then arrested and taken to an unknown place.

A very active social media user, Muhinda has been offline for the last one week, creating speculation that he could have fallen into trouble.

Mulindwa Mukasa from the Human Rights Network for Journalists posted on his Facebook page today that he had visited Muhinda and he was in good health.

“He remains a strong man even after all this long period in detention,” Mulindwa wrote.

By press time it was not clear what charges will be pressed against him.
