200 police officers fail UN aptitude test

At least 200 police officers aspiring to join the United Mission in Somalia-AMISOM have failed the aptitude test.

Only 230 out of the 430 police officers who underwent the aptitude test and comprehensive interviews at Namboole Stadium on Monday qualified to proceed to the next level of the recruitment exercise.
The officers are expected to undergo oral interviews and computer tests. Vincent Ssekate, the spokesperson of the Directorate of Peace and Support Missions, says “the number will reduce further after the Oral and Computer tests. The ones who will have qualified will then undergo a driving test.”
He says on Thursday the applicants will be subjected to a driving test to test their driving skills. “Those that qualify will take a second and final range and target shooting test,” he said.

The first range and Target shooting contest was last weekend.  AMISOM is seeking to recruit more than 50 officers from Uganda Police Force to support its peace mission in Somalia.
