Tanga Odoi: "My late father was not bewitched"

The chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission, Dr Tanga Odoi has refuted reports that the cause of his father's death was linked to witchcraft.

"As much as Africans want to live long like trees, my father wasn't bewitched. He was diagnosed to have had a weak heart", Odoi told mourners at St. Luke Church in Ntinda on Thursday.

Born in 1920, Mzee Yokolamu Tanga is survived by 21 children and 90 grand children.

During his time, Yokolamu Tanga gained repute as a great cotton farmer and used the proceeds to educate his children.

Delivering her message on behalf of the NRM secretariat, Rose Namayanja, the NRM national treasurer, revealed that the party had contributed Shs 5 million as condolence fee.

Justine Kasule Lumumba, the party secretary general, could not attend the service because she is out of the country.
