Finance Minister decries age limit chaos, says it’s chasing investors

The Minster for Planning and Economic Development, Matia Kasaija has decried chaos surrounding the controversial age limit debate, citing it is scaring away investors.

Kasaija was speaking during the second quarter expenditure release 2017/18 at the ministry headquarters in Kampala.

“No investor is interested in an unstable country, if this chaos continues then money will go away and it will impact our economy,” he said.

“We fought and will continue to fight for democracy and not this chaos,” he added.

Kasaija also reiterated that the Ministry he heads has not yet released any funds to parliament for consultation regarding the age limit Bill.

It should be noted that ever since the age limit Bill was introduced by Igara West legislator Rapheal Magyezi, the country has been split into those against and those for the Bill, hence creating chaotic scenes.

The recent display of chaos was on Wednesday in Rukungiri District, where police clashed with residents who had come to attend a consultation rally by opposition Forum for Democratic Change party.

A confrontation between the police and locals resulted into the death of a one Nasasira Edson,22, while a police officer lost an eye and several other people got injured.
