Ugandan Youth bewitched- Cecilia Ogwal

Dokolo woman member of parliament, Cecilia Ogwal says the Ugandan youth are under a spell, saying nothing else can justify the decision by a section of the youth to support the move to amend article 102 b of the constitution to lift the age cap in the constitution.

“I’m shocked that even the youth have supported the removal of the age limit, so I will say what the bible says that you the youth have been bewitched, you must wake up and defend your rights, if you are not bewitched and you are standing on the side of your people, and you are on the side of God, defend the constitution” Ogwal says

She says the youth have been manipulated over the years and used only as avenues of getting votes other than setting an agenda for their future

Ogwal insists its time for the young generation to take over the mantle of leadership.

“I was one person who opposed the NRM storming into power by the barrel of the gun, so as far as I am concerned, I know there is no way that gun rule can deliver democracy.”

Ogwal says if president Museveni stays in power and continues to dominate regional politics, there is no way he can be removed from power.

The legislator says she spent considerable time explaining to the American and British governments on the kind of leadership the country has under president Museveni.

Ogwal who served in the constituent assembly during the making of the 1995 constitution says considerable time was spent on the process with the dream of finally starting the journey towards democratisation of the country

“Sadly every time we stumble on something that personally touches on president Museveni, he opens up the constitution and touches it ,so everything  that touches on him and those who rule with him, he will open the constitution and change it.”

Ogwal warns that president Museveni will also not rest until he amends article 26 of the constitution to take control of land in the country
