Brig.Olum sent to Congo as adviser in new UPDF reshuffle

The Commander in Chief  of the armed forces, president Yoweri Museveni has sent the UPDF second  division commander Brig.Dick Olum to Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to a message from the deputy army spokesperson,Lt Col Deo Akiiki, the  new deployments and appointments in the UPDF have seen Brig.Olum appointed as the country’s defence adviser in Kinshasa.
“Brig.Olum will be replacing Brig. Geoffrey ‘Taban’ Kyabihende who passed away in early August this year,”says the message from Lt.Col.Akiiki.
Olum has been the Commanding Officer of the UPDF third Division based in Moroto, since April 2015.
He also served as the commander of the UPDF contingent in Somalia from June 2013 to  November 2014.
Brigadier Richard Otto has subsequently been appointed as the third  Division Commander to replace Brig.Olum.

Brig. Otto was the  UPDF Contingent Commander of the African Union Regional Task Force (AU-RTF) and is credited for defeating LRA in Central African Republic.

In another related development, the commander in chief of the armed forces has also sent  Col. Omero Tingira Irumba  to Khartoum as a Defence Adviser from Somalia where he has been a Defence Attache.
He previously served as the UPDF’s Director of Counter Terrorism.
Col.Omero  has been  replaced by Brig. Joseph Lucky Kidega who has been the first Division commander to become the new Defence attache to Somalia.
