Body recovered from septic tank belongs to Onebe’s wife- DNA test confirms

A DNA test done by police has confirmed the body retrieved from the septic at the home of Francis Onebe in Munyonyo belongs to his missing wife, Immaculate Mary Blessing Asio.

Asio, the chief executive of Pentagon Security Services Ltd went missing in January and an interview later, the husband Onebe accused security organs of being behind her abduction.

Last week, a body believed to be that of Immaculate Mary Blessing Asio, was discovered in a sack weighed down with stones in a septci tank found in the couple’s marital home in  Munyonyo.

On Thursday, DNA results released by police indicated that the body found in the septic belongs to Mrs.Onebe who had been missing for almost eight months.

“The DNA from the skeletons samples and that of the family members clearly matched. As a result the remains of late Mrs. Immaculate Onebbe were handed over to her immediate family members for decent burial,” CID spokesperson, Charles Twine said in a statement released on Thursday afternoon.

Twine also denied reports that a second body had been retrieved from the septic tank , saying  these were part of the remains for Mrs.Onebe.

The results from the team of medical examiner’s and pathologist, confirm that the bones recovered from the septic tank, are for one person and not two, as earlier indicated from the scene of crimes investigators. In addition, the bones were submitted for further forensic examination and scientifically identified as that of an adult female.”

According to police, after confirming that the body recovered from the septic tank belongs to Onebe’s missing wife, investigators are now focused on gathering evidence on circumstances surrounding her disappearance and how the body was dumped in the septic tank.

Following the recovery of the body from their marital home’s septic tank, Police arrested Francis Onebe for questioning but in his statements, he insists he doesn’t know how the body of her missing wife ended up in the septic tank.

After the disappearance of his wife on January ,6, Francis Onebe filed a case of missing person at Kabalagala Police station but later visited various detention centres in search for his wife who he claimed had been kidnapped by unknown people who were moving in a Toyota Hiace commonly referred to as drone.

He also presented CCTV footage to show a vehicle stopping in front of his wife who was returning from a grocery on top of placing adverts in newspapers and other media platforms in search for his missing wife.

However, the arrest of the home’s former security guard gave clues to police that later cordoned off the couple’s marital home in Munyonyo where they retrieved the wife’s body.

In one of the statements to interrogators, Onebe insisted that the body found in the septic tank was not his wife.

Police also said they had been alerted that Onebe was planning to leave the country, raising questions about the move at a time when investigations about the disappearance of his wife are going on.

Puzzle

However, police is now seeking to crack the puzzle on how Onebe’s wife disappeared, allegedly at the hands of a drone as said by the husband.

After confirming the body retrieved from the septic tank belonged to Mrs. Onebe, investigators will also be trying to find out how and where she was killed before the body was brought and dropped into the septic tank.

The investigators will also be seeking to find out the reason behind the killing of Mrs. Onebe and if there were other people involved in the gruesome murder.
