Police’s AIGP Kasingye assures public on Masaka killings

The Chief Political Commissar in the Uganda Police Force, AIGP Asan Kasingye has assured the public that soon, the killings in greater Masaka region will be a story of the past.

“The intelligence is on ground. Operations are going well. This will be solved very quickly. The investigators are doing a good job,”Kasingye said on Tuesday while touring the greater Masaka area as part of his rectification and ideological orientation tour.

A total of 28 people have been killed by machete wielding men in the last one month in the greater Masaka region to throw the public in panic.

Many have since blamed police for failure to protect citizens despite being facilitated well.

However, speaking on Tuesday, AIGP Kasingye assured the public that the Police have been joined by sister security agencies and that they are on top of the situation to bring down the criminals.

“So far, 11 people have appeared in courts today and more case files will be processed to face court. Ugandans need to trust us and know that they play a big role by sharing details about any suspicious persons.”

AIGP Asan Kasingye’s comments come on the backdrop of similar comments by President Museveni who said the people behind the attacks will soon be brought to book.

"There are people who miscalculate and think they can disrupt Uganda but it is self-deception. No force can defeat us. They are finished now. The only thing they can do is endangering themselves and those they are misleading people. These people are attacking old people in Masaka by attacking them at night and think it is a strategy! You are finished now,” Museveni said.
