Fashion designer Sylvia Owori appointed director of operations at OWC

Sylvia Owori, a renowned Ugandan fashion designer and businesswoman has been appointed director of operations at Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).

Owori who has been serving as the executive assistant to OWC National Coordinator Gen Salim Saleh, said she was promoted to the position on December 28, 2020.

"I am delighted to announce that on the 28th December 2020, I got promoted to the position of Director of Operations at Operation Wealth Creation – Uganda,"she said in a statement

She thanked President Museveni and Saleh for believing and recognising her abilities, talents and skills to lead and coordinate operation.

"They have nurtured many of these attributes that have gotten me here; I couldn’t have asked for better mentors," she said.

Owori said that she is aware of the various challenges ahead of her as she takes up her new role.

"I am counting on the full support of my seniors , colleagues, all our stakeholders and most importantly the guidance and grace of God to enable me execute my duties in my new position in order to contribute to sustainable job and wealth creation in Uganda,"she added.

In her new capacity, Owori said she will be able to create change as she pushes policymakers to make policies that will positively impact not just the fashion industry but also the entire population of Uganda.

She advised women to continue with hard work adding that they will always reap from their sweat but with a lot of persistent and determination.

"There is nowhere hard work, the right attitude and courage, discipline, willingness for constant self-improvement and of course faithfulness to God will not get you,"she advised.

Operation Wealth Creation was launched by President Museveni in July 2013 as an intervention to efficiently facilitate national socio-economic transformation, with a focus on raising household incomes and wealth creation.
