Musician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has said that he is still going to rally support for Kyadondo East lawmaker and National Unity Platform president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine.

Mayanja was denied the NUP Lord Mayor ticket in favor of Latif Ssebagala, who later resigned to force NUP into fresh nominations where Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala was handed the ticket.

Although Mayanja did not present himself for the second party nomination, the politician-cum-musician went ahead to pick Kampala Lord Mayor forms at the Electoral Commission, and he is set to compete as an independent candidate.

Speaking to journalists shortly after picking his forms, Mayanja said that he will still support Kyagulanyi.

Mayanja said that "I want people to know that NUP might have its ambitions, but I also have mine. I will not disrespect my people, and I will not disobey God who enables us in all we do."

"I am still a freedom fighter, and I am still going to support Bobi Wine," Mayanja added.

Mayanja said that it is God who gave him this idea of joining electoral politics and he can not disobey. He said that his candidature means a lot for the future of Uganda's capital.

"My agenda is to develop Kampala. We're tired of these men in suits who have failed to do anything for the people of Kampala," Mayanja added.

The 'Baliwa' hit-maker aimed a dig at incumbent Erias Lukwago saying that he claims the government made it hard for him to work, yet he continues to take a salary.

Mayanja said," You keep saying that government has made it hard for you to work, has it also stopped you from bringing investors? I want to clear all this mess."
